Research
My research examines the literary and cultural legacies of Indian indenture, with particular attention to trauma, memory, migration, and diasporic identity. I ask how the experiences of indenture are narrated, remembered, and transmitted, and how literary and cultural expression negotiates displacement, belonging, and cultural memory.
Doctoral research
My doctoral research at the University of Delhi explores representations of trauma and memory in Girmitiya literature. Drawing on trauma studies and memory studies, it examines how the experiences and legacies of indenture are narrated and remembered across generations of the Indian diaspora.
Earlier research
My MPhil research at the University of Delhi examined identity, community, and belonging in the literature of the Indian indenture diaspora, particularly in relation to Fiji, Mauritius, and the Caribbean.
